Here is something I understood today. Reading is more complex than watching. When you watch based on reviews it has a higher chance of meeting your expectation compared to read based on reviews. In reading the reviewer who uses a similar cognitive process will provide the best option.
A book having a good review means it has struck common ground between a lot of readers with a varied reading interests.
Yet instinctively i am against buying books based on reviews. I'd rather pick up something based on recommendations from someone familiar.
